Because life is there to be savoured
To say that Mari de Kock is passionate about food is a bit like saying macarons are easy to make – quite the understatement! With a wealth of food industry experience, Mari is the force behind Maison Mari as well as the beloved former Stellenbosch eatery and catering company, Delicately Different. Prior to that, Mari studied at the Institute of Culinary Arts, the Cape Wine Academy and the Stellenbosch Academy of Design and Photography. Working as a manager and pastry chef, she also gained valuable wine industry experience and dabbles as a photographer and food stylist.
Intricate workmanship, inspired by the founder
Known for creating edible art, Mari and her team wowed the winelands for over a decade with unforgettable food and wine pairings, MCC master classes, activations and event conceptualisation. Her work included restaurant consulting, recipe and product development, and showstopper occasion baking.
Eventually, word spread and Delicately Different started to produce and supply hearty, home-made goodies to coffee shops, restaurants and wine estates. This culminated in the opening of her unique one-long-table restaurant in the heart of Stellenbosch. Part studio space, part foodie playground, it quickly gained a cult following for those who love the feeling of hanging out in an open kitchen, seeing what the team whips up for the day.
